The Package came down from its assumed post above the bound army and placed itself in Nove’s unwilling hands. He desperately wanted to be rid of it, but Vodine gave him orders to keep it.

The Package felt triumphant. It was on its way back to Naris and more powerful than ever. It was closer to its dark desires, and it saw no end to what it had in mind. Nove could not stop it. Even its own mistake of attacking Vrelkine, for all to see, had not put an end to its journey to Naris. It was getting closer to its goal, and not even I, nor anyone who was against it, could see a way of preventing it from reaching its goal.

Amelik and the army of shape-shifters departed. Melesene chose to ride to Naris with Nove and the Magus.

Outside the Magus accepted Malchius’ offer of taking Malourous to Presalvine with him. After drawing so much attention to themselves, they could not risk carrying Malourous straight to the king. Malchius had a few matters to tend to before heading to Naris. And knowing that Lya had his worries about taking Malourous into enemy territory, he offered to become his keeper. Nove did not wish to be separated from his companion, but he understood fully that it would be far better for Malourous to ride into Naris without such attention drawn to him. As Malchius and Malourous rode off in the opposite direction, the carriages and horses left the Magus’ manor, heading towards the Kingdom of Naris.

Nove took a deep breath as they embarked on the last leg of their journey home. He did not know what was to come, but he hoped that somehow he would find a way to convince the king to put aside the Package and seek a different way of finding peace. My prayers were with him as he headed home.
